Thoughts on Tokyo

Different, yet comfortable

This picture was taken during one of my first three days in Japan, actually I believe it may have been my first full day in Japan. Tokyo was much different from what I expected it to be. Yes, there were tons of stores, tons of people and it was busy. Among all of that it was never awkward or overwhelming being in Tokyo. There was an order to everything, nothing seemed out-of-place even though the city was huge. The people were friendly enough in Tokyo, though most kept to themselves.
On the first day, a Japanese man was kind enough to help us find our hotel and it was amusing because he didn’t seem to be 100% sure where the hotel was located. He was on his way to work as well, so it was extremely nice of him to take the time to help us out. It is interesting, even my friend who showed us around Tokyo one day had never been to certain parts of the city.
I remember the first morning waking up in Tokyo to business people doing their morning exercises, at least that is what I think they were doing. All I could say was, “We are in Japan.” It was an amazing feeling to be in a place that I had read about, heard about and seen on TV. Even though I know there were things going on at all hours of the day it never seemed overly noisy. It just seemed as it should be.
While Tokyo was not my favorite Japanese city, I still enjoyed it very much and found it to be a pretty comfortable place.
