I was having one of those evenings where I couldn’t put my finger on a topic to write about. Thank goodness for social media and its ability to help me get over my writer’s block this evening.
One of my friend’s posted the following quote:
“Knowing your own darkness is the best method for dealing with the darknesses of other people.” – Carl Jung
I believe I can relate to this quote. After years of really getting to know myself and what makes me tick, I have become more open to what other people are going through. I know what I have lurking inside of me so when people tell me things about themselves that they feel are dark or shameful, I believe I can relate in some small fashion based on what I have experienced. I know that everyone fights their own battles, most of the time more than what the outside world will ever know. The moment they share, they are making themselves vulnerable. They are letting their walls down. Sharing ones darkness takes courage and in my mind realization is the first step to healing.
