This One’s for You (Part II) – My thoughts on Winter driving….

I don’t do it (or I try not to). Plain and simple, if there is one thing I don’t like it is Winter driving. Not so much because I can’t drive on ice or snow, but mainly because I don’t want to worry about whether or not someone else isn’t paying attention and then they run into me.  It seems like when the first snowfall occurs everyone acts like it is the first time they have driven in the Winter, well it happens every year so it shouldn’t be shocking. Plus, all because you have a truck or four wheel drive, does not mean you can have traction on ice. I know that is worrying about something that some would say is out of my control, but here is the thing – I can control it (and yes I am a bit of a control freak).

My car spends the majority of the Winter two ways – snowed in and unmovable or plugged in. I am very grateful that I live in a city that I can take the bus or train to a majority of places, which I do fairly often in the Winter, sure it takes more time but it has its benefits. For example – I can read, listen to music or just relax on the bus. Plus, the more you close your eyes the less chance that you will have to get into a strange conversation on the bus (though strange conversations can be interesting). Instead of looking at it as an inconvenience, I look at it as making better use of my time and giving my brain a break. Driving can be stressful, so not driving is one less stress that I need to have in my life.
