Well I am back in Hiroshima. It has been eight years and I am so glad I am back. This is one of favorite, if not my favorite city in Japan. I don’t know what it is about Hiroshima, but the minute I stepped off the Shinkansen I breathed a sigh of relief. For some reason this city feels like a second home.
The hotel I am staying at is over the train station and there are also tour buses that do a loop. As a side note, if you have a JR Pass you can take these tour buses for free. Not that they are super expensive, but it is another perk with the rail pass. I went to the Peace Memorial Museum as I missed it the last time I was there. I lasted about ten minutes in the museum. Seeing photos of Hiroshima before and after the atomic bomb was heart wrenching. After seeing some of the pictures and personal items of people impacted by the blast I couldn’t take it anymore and had to leave before I started crying more. It is worth visiting if only for the fact to remember the devastation caused by nuclear weapons and to stop it from happening again.
I had a chance to take a couple of photos of the A-bomb Dome while I was at the memorial park.
